I see a lot of mainstream Indian cinema— one of the perks of living in NYC is getting most big Bolly/Tollywood stuff in theaters. Good or bad I’m usually having fun, but fighter was rough haha. Roshan is scary to look at in 2024

Usually don’t see a lot of white people watching our Indian movies. They’re definitely all over the country but still. I’m not a fan of most of our commercial movies but recently liked Pushpa 2 and Kalki even if they are kind of guilty pleasures

Yeah, I’m usually the only white guy in the theater lol. I prefer Indian commercial cinema to American commercial cinema. If I’m gonna watch a stupid, nonsensical propaganda films full of unconvincing CGI, I’d rather see ones with awesome song and dance sequences and inventive, stylized action choreography than a dull marvel movie. Pushpa 2 was a lot of fun, it was in my honorable mentions this year! I think a step down from the first one, total nonsense but AA is electric, just an insane performance, and Sukumar directs elevation/dialogue sequences better than anyone since 2000s Boyapti Srinu stuff. I still need to see Kalki— trailer looked really cool.

I tend to avoid both mostly although I enjoyed Dune and Twisters a good deal. Yeah, I preferred 2 to 1, but Allu Arjun's my favorite Indian actor. I met him once when I was younger and he's definitely a cool dude. Although, I can't get behind Boyapati Srinu man. Bro is the worst 😭

Lmaooo everyone says that about him, but what can I say I love those BoyaBali joints. Just completely over the top, ridiculous stuff. Elevation to the extreme.

It's all just meme-worthy honestly. It is so funny. His signature opening clip before his movies start never fails to make me laugh.

Kidman is only getting more game in her old age. Love and respect that. Dern, for her part, seems only willing to be properly sexy in a David Lynch film which is annoying

My main disagreement is that Gladiator 2 isn’t on here, which doesn’t so much jump the shark so much as it literally floods the Roman colosseum with them and jumps over them all. Also Denzel clearly should have been the protagonist instead of Paul Mescal being transmogrified into a Russell Crowe clone.

Megalopolis was incoherent and the dialogue was awful (“you’re being anal, I’m feeling more oral”).

But it committed the single biggest sin a movie can commit. It managed to be boring.
